Text Box: The GED test include five areas: 
• Language Arts, Writing 
• Social Studies 
• Science 
• Mathematics 
• Language Arts, Reading 

The questions in each of these require you to use general knowledge and thinking skills. Few  questions are about facts, details, or definitions. Even though you have not finished high school, you have probably gained knowledge and skills through experience, reading, and  Information training. The GED test are designed to measure the important knowledge and skills learned during four years of high school, but which you may have obtained in a different manner. 

You are eligible to take the tests if you are not enrolled in and have not graduated from high school and if you meet the eligibility requirements.

 

Text Box: Testing Eligibility
You must reside in Texas at the time of testing. Minimum age is 18. Seventeen year olds must present a written statement singed by a school official of the last school attended and parent or guardian stating that the student is no longer in school and has permission to take the GED test. (please contact the Kaufman High School Testing Center for this form). 
Sixteen years olds may test only if recommended by a public agency having custody under a court order. The recommendation must be in writing on letterhead and include the applicant’s name, date of birth, and cause number. It must be signed by an official of that public agency. 

Registration 
 All examinees must pre-register for the GED test. To pre-register for a testing date call James Poe at Kaufman High School (972) 932-2811 Ext. 1645.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Text Box: Previous Test Scores
             If you are transferring scores to the Kaufman High School GED Testing Center you must have received your previous test scores from Austin/GED. 

Special Accommodations 
                 Students with special needs may qualify for special accommodations for testing. Forms can be obtained on-line at www.GEDTEST.org. Text Box: Testing Fees
                 
The GED testing fee is $80. The fee is    payable in cash or money order only. No personal checks are accepted. A receipt will be given to the student for the testing fee. This fee will cover testing sessions, your score report, and your state certificate for the your first testing.
 
Retesting 
                 In order to retest, you must wait six months before retesting or participate in an adult education program or have a certified teacher tutor you. When the teacher/instructor determines you are prepared, you may  retest. Written permission from the teacher/instructor is necessary for retesting. Retesting fees are $20.00 for each subject.
 
Identification 
                 All students must present photo identification each time they test. Acceptable form of ID   include a Texas drivers license, a Department of  Public Safety (DPS) ID, a military ID, or a passport.
